China Extravaganza

Departures & Rates

Take a 14-night trip and visit all the major attractions and some of the off-the-beaten-path destinations in China. Start off with visits to the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs, Tian An Men Square, and the Forbidden City in Beijing. Afterward, head to Xi’an, where you can view the terracotta soldiers frozen in time. Next, fly to Shanghai and explore this cosmopolitan city. Finally, enjoy visits to Nanjing, where you see Dr. Sun Yatsen’s mausoleum; Wuxi, where you take a boat ride on the famous Taihu Lake; Suzhou, where you see the canals and gardens of what is known as the Venice of the East; and Hangzhou, where you cruise along legendary West Lake. Starting from $4635, including air, with weekly guaranteed departures.

Day 1 - USA/Beijing
Depart the USA on your Cathay Pacific trans-Pacific flight for Beijing. Cross the International Date Line.

Day 2  - Beijing
Arrive Beijing and transfer to your hotel. (Qianmen/Royal Phoenix)

Day 3  - Beijing
Visit Tian An Men Square, Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. Peking Duck dinner. (B/L/D)

Day 4 - Beijing
Full-day excursion to Great Wall and Ming Tombs. (B/L)

Day 5 - Beijing/Xian
Fly to Xian and transfer to your hotel. (Grand New World/Grand Metro Park) (B/L)

Day 6 - Xian
See the 6,000 life-size terra-cotta soldiers and horses at the tomb of Emperor Qinshi Huangdi. Also see Hua Qing Hot Springs and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Tonight enjoy a feast of delicate dumplings. (B/L/D)

Day 7 - Xian/Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai and transfer to your hotel. (Holiday Inn Downtown/New World Mayfair) (B)

Day 8 - Shanghai
Visit the Bund, the Jade Buddha Temple and Yu Garden, where you can appreciate classic Chinese horticulture. Shop along Nanjing Road. (B/L)

Day 9 - Shanghai/Nanjing
Take a train to Nanjing and transfer to your hotel. (New Century/Jinling) (B/L)

Day 10 - Nanjing
See Dr. Sun Yatsen's Mausoleum, the Xuanwu Lake and the Ming Tomb. (B/L)

Day 11 - Nanjing/Wuxi
A pleasant train ride brings you to Wuxi. Enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Taihu Lake. (Picturesque/Sheraton) (B/L)

Day 12 - Wuxi/Suzhou
Train to Suzhou and transfer to hotel. (Bamboo Grove/Pan Pacific) (B/L)

Day 13 - Suzhou
Full-day tour of this charming city of canals and gardens, Tiger Hill and Embroidery Institute. (B/L)

Day 14 - Suzhou/Hangzhou
Train to Hangzhou, the Paradise on Earth. (Lakeview/Grand Metro Park) (B/L)

Day 15 - Hangzhou
Cruise the legendary West Lake, and visit Lingyin Temple. Then see a tea plantation and sample the finished product. (B/L)

Day 16 - Hangzhou/USA
Board Cathay Pacific flight and return to the US the same day. Or, take the Hong Kong Extension. (B)
