Day 1, Friday: New York - Bucharest
Depart JFK airport in New York for Bucharest, Romania.
Day 2, Saturday: Arrival in Bucharest
Arrival at Otopeni International Airport in Bucharest and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel. Continental Forum Hotel.
Day 3, Sunday: Bucharest – Cozia - Sibiu (300 km)
Breakfast at hotel. Morning departure to Sibiu, European Cultural Capital. Stop on the way to visit Cozia Monastery, in a picturesque setting on the banks of the Olt River. Arrival in Sibiu, lunch at a local restaurant. Walking tour including the Great Square, the Small Square, the Bridge of Lies, the Catholic cathedral and the Evangelical Church, Huet Square. Day 4, Monday: Sibiu - Biertan - Sighisoara - Targu Mures (180 km)
Breakfast at hotel. Road to Sighisoara, stop on the way in the village of Biertan, home to one of the largest and most impressive strongholds in Transylvania, the XVth-century fortified church, UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Sighisoara (UNESCO World Heritage site) and walking tour in the citadel, including the most important attractions: the Clock Tower, the house where Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born, we will climb the covered stairs to see Church on the Hill and enjoy the narrow streets of the old citadel. Lunch at a local restaurant and free time to explore the citadel on your own. Departure in the afternoon to Targu Mures, known as "The City of Roses." Day 5, Tuesday: Targu Mures - Turda - Cluj Napoca - Targu Mures (230 km)
Breakfast at hotel. Walking city tour of Targu Mures including the Town Hall, Medieval Fortress, Apollo Palace and the Palace of Culture. Departure to Turda, short visit to the historical center of Turda. Optional visit of Turda salt mine, a true museum of the history and the exploitation of salt. Continue to Cluj Napoca. Lunch at a local restaurant. Walking tour of Cluj city center, where you may admire the Union Square, the equestrian statue of Matthias Corvin, the Gothic Saint Michael’s Church, the Opera Square, the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral and the Banffy Palace. In the afternoon return to Targu Mures. Dinner under own arrangement. Overnight at hotel. (B/L)
Day 6, Wednesday: Targu Mures - Prejmer - Brasov (220 km)
Breakfast at hotel, then departure to Brasov. Stop in the village of Darjiu, visit the fortified church (UNESCO World Heritage site). Continue to Prejmer to visit the fortified church (UNESCO World Heritage site). Arrival in Brasov, lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the old city center of Brasov, see the old fortifications, the Synagogue, the Weavers’ Bastion, the Council Square, Catherine’s Gate, the Black Church. Day 7, Thursday: Brasov - Bran - Sinaia - Bucharest (220 km)
Breakfast at hotel. Travel by coach to Bran. Visit the famous medieval castle, known worldwide as Dracula’s Castle. Road to Sinaia, the "Pearl of the Carpathians" located in the Prahova Valley. Lunch at a local restaurant in Sinaia. Visit the famous Peles Castle, former summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. Continue to Bucharest, where a panoramic city tour includes the Press House, the Arch of Triumph, Kiseleff and Victoria avenues, Revolution Square, the Palace of Parliament and walking tour in the old town, Lipscani district. Day 8, Friday: Bucharest - New York
