Costa Rica Experience

9 days/8 nights - from $2,065 per person including airfare from Miami
Take an 8-night trip to the heart of Central America and experience Costa Rica. Start in San Jose and take a two-hour boat ride to Tortuguero, where you see the natural and manmade canals in Tortuguero National Park. From July to September, take optional turtle-watching tours as the sea turtles arrive en masse to lay their eggs on the beach. From there, travel to Arenal Volcano and enjoy hot springs that the volcano provides. Then travel to Monteverde and explore Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Finally, transit through San Jose on your way back to the US. Starting from $2065, including air, with daily departures.

Day 1 - Miami/San Jose
Depart Miami via Avianca Airlines to San Jose, Costa Rica. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. (Radisson/Real InterContinental)

Day 2 - San Jose/Tortuguero 
Transfer from your hotel to the dock, and take a two-hour boat ride to Tortuguero National Park along the famous canals. En route, admire the area's unique flora and fauna. Afternoon, you may explore the tiny Caribbean village of Tortuguero. (Pachira Lodge/Manatus) (B/L/D)

Day 3 - Tortuguero
Today, explore the smaller canals and get closer to nature. From July through September, optional turtle-watching tour in the evening, as the massive sea turtles arrive en masse to lay their eggs on the beach. (B/L/D)

Day 4 - Tortuguero/Arenal Volcano
After breakfast, transfer by boat back to the dock. After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to the Arenal Volcano area. (Manoa/Arenal Kioro) (B/L)

Day 5 - Arenal Volcano
Morning at leisure. Afternoon, visit Arenal Volcano area and the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort for a hot bath and dinner. (B/D)

Day 6 - Arenal Volcano/Monteverde 
Transfer to Monteverde area. (Ficus/El Establo) (B)

Day 7 - Monteverde
A half-day tour includes an educational trail walk through unique Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. (B)

Day 8 - Monteverde/San Jose
Morning return to San Jose. Transfer to hotel. Or take the Guanacaste Extension or the Manuel Antonio National Park Extension. (Radisson/Real InterContinental) (B)

Day 9 - San Jose/Miami

One of the country's most popular parks, Manuel Antonio is a charming combination of rainforest, beaches and coral reefs. The beaches are considered among the most beautiful in the country. On a morning tour of the park, walk through the forest, home to sloths, iguanas, squirrel monkeys and over 200 species of birds. (B)

Day 10 - Manuel Antonio/San Jose
