China's Mountains

13 days/11 nights - from $5,555 per person including airfare from West Coast

Take an 11-night trip and discover the beauty of the Chinese landscapes. Start your trip in Beijing, where you spend a night before you travel to Wuhan, along the Yangtze River. The next morning visit East Lake and take a train downstream to Jiujiang, spending a night before starting off for Mt. Lu. On your way down the mountain, visit Jingdezhen, a world-renowned ceramic town. Afterward, drive east to visit the famous Yellow Mountains and view the scenic peaks. Journey to another famous mountain, Mt. Jiuhua, in southern Anhui province. Finally, travel to Nanjing and visit the Confucius temple and the Ming Tomb. On your way back to the US, spend a night in Shanghai and see the city’s sights. Starting from $5555, including air, with weekly guaranteed departures.

Day 1 - USA/Beijing
Depart the US via Cathay Pacific flight for Beijing. Cross the International Date Line.

Day 2 - Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, capital of China. Transfer to your hotel. (Royal Phoenix)

Day 3 - Beijing/Wuhan
Take a morning flight to the central city of Wuhan, located on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Visit Yellow Crane Tower and the Yangtze River Bridge in the afternoon. (Mayflower) (B/L/D)

Day 4 - Wuhan/Jiujiang
In the morning visit East Lake and provincial museum. In the afternoon travel by train downstream along the Yangtze to Jiujiang, a bustling port city on the river. (International) (B/L/D)

Day 5 - Jiujiang/Mt. Lu
A mountain retreat, Mt. Lu was favored by both Kuomintang and Communist leaders in the 20th century. Drive uphill take in sites such as Fairy Cave, Three Ancient Trees, Meilu Vila, and People's Hall. (West Lake Hotel) (B/L/D)

Day 6 - Mt. Lu/Jiujiang/Jingdezhen
Journey downhill through rural Jiangxi province to Jingdezhen, the world-renowned ceramic town. Visit some ancient kilns that have produced blue-and-white china since the 12th century. Inspect a modern one and view the complete.(Jingdezhen) (B/L/D)

Day 7 - Jingdezhen/Yellow Mountains
In the morning visit the ceramic museum. After lunch drive east to the Yellow Mountains. At the foot of the mountains, check in to hotel. (Golf) (B/L/D)

Day 8 - Yellow Mountains
Ascend to the top of the mountains by cable car. Admire the scenic views of piercing peaks, ever-changing clouds, tenacious pine trees and ancient calligraphy chiseled on the rocks. Overnight at a mountain hotel. (West Sea) (B/L/D)

Day 9 - Yellow Mountains/Mt. Jiuhua
Descend by cable car and drive to Mt. Jiuhua. Pass some quaint towns with architecture hundreds of years old. Overnight at the foot of Mt. Jiuhua. (Dongya) (B/L/D)

Day 10 - Mt. Jiuhua/Nanjing
Today climb by cable car to Mt. Jiuhua, a Buddhistsacred mountain. Enjoy waterfalls, terrace fields, and mountain shops along pebbled streets. Visit sacred Buddhist sites and temples. Drive east to Nanjing. (Jinling) (B/L)

Day 11 - Nanjing
See Dr. Sun Yatsen's Mausoleum, Xuanwu Lake, Confucius Temple and the Ming Tomb. (B/L)

Day 12 - Nanjing/Shanghai
Travel by train to Shanghai. Visit Yu Garden, Jade Temple, the Bund and Nanjing Road. (New World Mayfair) (B/L)

Day 13 - Shanghai/USA
Depart via Cathay Pacific flight back to the US, arriving home the same day. (B)
