Fondly known as the Grand Dame of Kolkata (Calcutta), The Oberoi Grand is situated in a prime location, near the central business district, bustling markets and cultural landmarks. Dating back to the late 1880s, The Oberoi Grand was frequented by the country's leading figures during colonial times and even now, hosts grand functions for Heads of State in the city's largest pillarless Grand Ballroom.
On one side of the hotel, our rooms afford views of Kolkata's bustling market spaces. On the other, private balconies overlook the quadrant garden and swimming pool, surrounded by towering royal palms - a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city.
Each room is tastefully furnished with either a king, queen or twin size bed, upholstered with colonial style prints, carpeted with plush wall to wall carpets and equipped with modern facilities. Bathrooms are fitted with a full length bathtub and variable pressure shower.
Since colonial times, The Oberoi Grand has been known for its fine cuisine, spectacular dinner parties and legendary live entertainment. In keeping with tradition, these are qualities we espouse even today.
Situated in a separate wing of the hotel, our therapy rooms and fitness suite branch off a colonial-style hallway lit by spectacular chandeliers. From here, guests are afforded refreshing views of the outdoor pool and verdant quadrant garden, which during colonial times functioned as a dance floor and ice rink.
