Dear Travelers,

We have recently received many email or phone inquiries about travel to the areas affected and Not-affected by the coronavirus or COVID-19. The official source for information is the US State Department, which announces travel advisories and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Newsroom: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/


Since the coronavirus outbreak occurred in Central China in early January 2020, a few more countries were affected, like South Korea, Japan, Iran and Italy.

Many airlines cancelled, rescheduled and are still rescheduling the flights due to the situation.

Some governments have begun adding additional requirements for visitors to enter their countries.

We have received numerous phone calls and emails about cancellations, postponement, and rescheduling.

US airlines and many foreign carriers have suspended service between the United States and all of mainland China. Pacific Holidays has suspended sending US travelers to China, as well. For cancellations to Pacific Holidays’ China trips there is no penalty. Refund is 100%.

However, travel to other parts of Far East Asia -- such as Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia -- is ongoing. While there are suspected or confirmed cases of the coronavirus in these countries, airlines continue to fly there and people are traveling. Pacific Holidays has not suspended any operations to these countries.

If reservations have been made, tickets have been issued, and people still want to cancel their trip to countries other than China, our normal cancellation policy and penalties will apply. Some air tickets were issued at lower fares that may be non-refundable or may be subject to severe penalties if cancelled.

For travel to countries other than China, should you decide to postpone your trip to a later date, airlines, hotels, overseas ground operators and Pacific Holidays may charge fees for cancellation of existing reservations and creating new reservations.  Airlines are not allowing waivers, date changes or refunds for destinations that are not deemed to be under threat. For those passengers who purchased air tickets with connections in China hubs through Pacific Holidays, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, and so on, who need to reroute through another carrier that will not use any Chinese city for connection, Pacific Holidays will provide reroute service free of charge. But you may have to pay air fare differences, accommodations at cities of connection, or anything else extra that relates to the new flights.

This is a special note for Groupon customers who purchased special promotion deals, they wish to cancel or change their reservations Pacific Holidays will waive the non-refundable policy. For those who have already cancelled their trips, we ask you to work with us and be patient. Due to high volume of cancellation and rescheduling, it will take at least 10 days or 2 weeks to find out the exact policies amounts that airlines, hotels, overseas ground operators are going to refund or not refund. Then it will take some more time to actually credit to you credit card and issue refund checks. We promise we will act as fast as we can.
