AUTHENTIC SACRED VALLEY FULL DAY TOUR (SIB) $40 per person (min 2 pax)
Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, in Chinchero, a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelve families still preserve their traditional customs, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Afterwards, we will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its “andenes” (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress, that also served as a temple. Then, we will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, “the unique living Inca town”: the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the XIII century. Important: We kindly ask you to wait in your hotel’s lobby in accordance to the tour start time in your itinerary.Being this a regular tour, the pickup can be extended up to 20 minutes after the scheduled time.
CHINCHERO, MARAS, MORAY & OLLANTAYTAMBO + LUNCH (PVT) $165 per person (min 2 pax)
Spend part of the day at the town of Chinchero, 35 kilometers northwest of Cuzco. The townsfolk are famous for having preserved traditional Andean weaving techniques. They also set up a market in the town square to sell handmade crafts from around the region to visitors. It’s a lively affair as they dress in their colorful outfits. Nearby is the town of Maras, and you will visit its salt pans where the finest salt in the world is extracted. Next, you will travel to Moray and tour the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built into the top of a hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Last stop of the day is at Ollantaytambo; an Incan military, religious, and agricultural center located in the highest point on the mountain. From the perspective of the archaeological site, you will look down upon the town of the same name and see its incredibly narrow streets and canals that have not changed since the Incas constructed them. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
CITY TOUR + RUINS (SIB) $85 per person (min 2 pax)
Spend part of the day touring the incredible colonial city, whose buildings the Spanish constructed on top of the foundations of Incan palaces. You begin at the Korikancha, the Temple of the Sun, to witness the exquisite stone work achieved by the Incas. Next stop is the Main Square for a tour of the Cathedral to see its fabulous wood carvings and impressive altars and the lovely Church of La Compañia de Jesus (Society of Christ). Following that, you head upwards to Sacsayhuaman, a fortress located in a strategic spot high above the city with a view that is absolutely stunning. You will also visit some other archaeological complexes such as Kenko, and you will have a panoramic view of Puca Pucara.
