Day 1 - Miami/Managua
Depart Miami via Taca Airlines for Managua. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. (Holiday Inn)
Day 2 - Managua/Leon
After breakfast, morning tour of Managua city includes Alcahulinca Indian tracks, Ruben Dario Theater and other sites that are part of the country's recent history. Then travel southward to the colonial city of Leon. Upon arrival, tour the ruins of Old Leon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (El Convento) (B/L)
Day 3 - Leon/Selva Negra
After breakfast, journey on to Selva Negra in the mountainous Matagalpa area. Along the way, stop to see the natural hot springs at Los Hervideros de San Jacinto. Visit San Rafael del Norte, learning about the town's importance during Sandino's time. (Selva Negra) (B/L)
Day 4 - Selva Negra/Granada
This morning, take a coffee tour in Selva Negra, one of the country's most important coffee production sites. After lunch, continue on to the colonial city of Granada on Lake Nicaragua's south shore. Rest of the day at leisure. (Dario) (B/L)
Day 5 - Granada/Ometepe Island
After breakfast, tour the city of Granada. In the afternoon, depart for Port San Jorge. Travel by ferry to Ometepe Island, which was formed by two volcanoes that sit in the middle of scenic Lake Nicaragua (Villa Paraiso) (B/L)
Day 6 - Ometepe Island
After breakfast, take an island tour. Afternooon at leisure to enjoy the island's natural beauty. (B)
Day 7 - Ometepe Island/Masaya/Playa Montelimar
After breakfast, depart by ferry for San Jorge and travel to Pochomil and Playa Montelimar on the Pacific Coast. En route, visit the city of Masaya and the Santiago volcano. Check in the beachside resort. (Barcelo Montelimar Beach) (B)
