Sample Itinerary:
Day 1, Monday - Quito/Coca
Depart from Quito and fly to Francisco de Orellana (Coca). Arrive and transfer to the Napo River port for motorized canoe. Board the Manatee Amazon Explorer and start navigating downstream. (D)
Day 2, Tuesday - Amazon Cruise
Disembark for a stroll on terra firma forest, towards an internal lagoon on Yasuni National Park, observing ecosystems and accompanied by the naturalist guide. Opportunity to swim and fish for the famous piranha. After lunch, return to the mighty Napo River. (B/L/D)
Day 3, Wednesday - Amazon Cruise
Early departure by motor canoe to visit clay banks of the river, where various parrot species gather daily. Back aboard the Manatee, sail upriver to a tributary of the Napo. Observe flora and fauna, including pygmy monkeys. Trek to Ecuador's only Biological Reserve. At Limoncocha Lake, board a canoe and travel along the banks of this marshy ecosystem where over 470 species of birds have been recorded. At night, you may observe the black caimans that inhabit the lagoon. Return to Manatee. (B/L/D)
Day 4, Thursday - Amazon Cruise
Visit Museum of Pompeya for insight into the history of Amazonian civilization. See giant trees of the Amazon, such as kapok. Try rowing on a tranquil river tributary to house of a native family. (B/L/D)
Day 5, Friday - Coca/Quito
Navigate upstream. Transfer to airport for flight to Quito. (B)
