Sample Itinerary:
Day 1, Wednesday - Miami/Quito
Depart Miami via LAN Ecuador for Quito, Ecuador. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. (Hotel Dann Carlton/Swissotel)
Day 2, Thursday - Quito/Galapagos Cruise
Morning flight to Baltra Airport. Upon arrival, transfer to pier to join the MV Galapagos Legend cruise. Sail to North Seymour Island. After a dry landing, encounter swallow-tailed gulls and sea lions. This site is also known for blue-footed boobies, the magnificent frigate bird, and both endemic species of iguanas. Hike around the nesting sites. (Superior inside cabin/Superior outside cabin) (L/D)
Day 3, Friday - Galapagos Cruise
Anchor at safe harbor on Genovesa. Dry landing at El Barranco. Observe red-footed boobies, frigates, and fragrant palo santo trees. At Darwin Bay, observe sea lions, lava gulls, night herons, and fiddler crabs. Snorkel in the bay and view sharks and rays at a safe distance. (B/L/D)
Day 4, Saturday - Galapagos Cruise
Arrive at Suarez Point on Espanola. See hooded mockingbird, red-billed tropic bird, and waved albatross. Visit the famous blowhole. Sail to San Cristobal Interpretation Center. Learn about the island's natural and human history. (B/L/D)
Day 5, Sunday - Galapagos Cruise
Arrive at Bartolome. See volcanic formations. Hike to the summit for impressive views of surrounding islands. See marine iguanas, lava lizards, tiquilla bushes, various cacti and more. Have a chance to snorkel and view penguins, turtles and sharks. (B/L/D)
Day 6, Monday - Galapagos Cruise
After a dry landing at Espinosa Point on Fernandina, see the largest colony of marine iguanas. Also see Galapagos penguins, Galapagos hawks and sea lions. Observe lava flows from a safe distance. At Tagus Cove, learn more about the eruption of volcanoes that formed this land mass. During the walk see the largest population of giant tortoises. (B/L/D)
Day 7, Tuesday - Galapagos Cruise
Visit the dark sand beach at Egas Port on Santiago. Observe hunting herons, great blue herons, lava herons, oyster catchers, and the yellow-crowned night heron. From a safe distance admire moray eels, hammerhead sharks, and white-tip and Galapagos sharks. At Rabida, make a dry landing at the beach, which is frequented by sea lions. Afternoon features a dinghy ride by the reefs and an excellent opportunity for snorkeling. (B/L/D)
Day 8, Wednesday - Galapagos Cruise
Today visit Charles Darwin Research Station in Puerto Ayora and Dragon Hill. After a wet landing, walk to a lagoon and observe pink flamingos. (B/L/D)
Day 9, Thursday - Galapagos Cruise/Quito
Wet landing at Baltra Beach. Observe marine iguanas and sea lions. Swim or snorkel. Disembark and transfer to the airport for flight to Quito. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. (Hotel Dann Carlton/Swissotel) (B)
Day 10, Friday - Quito
Morning tour of bustling streets and squares of largest historical center in the Americas. Visit churches, colonial quarter and Old Town. Stop at "Panecillo" hillside for breathtaking views. (B)
Day 11, Saturday - Quito/Miami
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Miami via LAN Ecuador. (B)
