Sample Itinerary:
Day 1 - Regional Airport/Campo Grande
Arrive by air at Campo Grande, gateway to the Pantanal region of the Amazon, along Brazil's western border. After four-hour road transfer, arrive at Caiman Ecological Refuge, a private reserve protecting the area's unique flora and fauna. The lodge has swimming pools and offers comfortable, traditional rooms. (D)
Day 2 - Pantanal
Morning ecological trail walk and farm visit including the Pantaneros (cowboys) tack shed, the horse corral and Blue Macaw Project. Afternoon excursion by horse, the best way to explore the area, as it allows you to discover flooded areas that are inaccessible by boat or vehicle. (B/L/D)
Day 3 - Pantanal
Morning photo safari in an open-sided expedition vehicle. Afternoon canoe ride on the lakes to spot wildlife and aquatic birds. (B/L/D) Day 4 - Pantanal/Campo Grande
Morning transfer by road to the airport in Campo Grande for an afternoon departure. (B)
