Day 1, Sunday, USA/Bangkok
Depart the US on a Cathay Pacific Airways trans-Pacific flight for your grand Southeast Asia tour.
Day 2, Monday, En Route
Cross the International Date Line.
Day 3, Tuesday, Bangkok
Arrive in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, where you are met and transferred to the riverfront Oriental Hotel.
Day 4, Wednesday, Bangkok
The sightseeing begins in the morning with visits to some of Bangkok's renowned Buddhist temples, including the Temple of the Golden Buddha and Wat Po with its huge reclining Buddha. Lunch is at the Supatra River House, followed by an afternoon visit to the grounds of the Royal Grand Palace. In the evening, the Sala Rim Nam Restaurant provides a feast of Thai delicacies, and a performance of traditional Thai classical dances.
Day 5, Thursday, Bangkok
Today features a day cruise on MS Oriental Queen from Bangkok to the ancient capital of Siam, Ayuthaya, with a stop at the old royal summer residence.
Day 6, Friday, Bangkok
In the morning, visit Jim Thompson's House, the former residence of the Western pioneer of the Thai silk industry. After lunch at Ban Khun Phor Restaurant, you are free to relax or explore the many wonders of Bangkok on your own.
Day 7, Saturday, Bangkok/Chiang Mai
Following breakfast, fly north to Chiang Mai, an ancient Thai city in the mountainous hinterlands, and transfer to Four Seasons Resort. In the afternoon, tour several holy sites including the sacred Wat Prathart Doi Suthep Temple outside the city. After dinner at the hotel, refresh yourself at the hotel spa.
Day 8, Sunday, Chiang Mai
In the morning, you travel to an elephant camp in Chiang Dao, and experience an elephant ride through the lush forest. After lunch at a local restaurant, take a raft trip on the Ping River where you observe the colorful Mao, one of Thailand's hill tribes. This evening, enjoy a Kantoke dinner show.
Day 9, Monday, Chiang Mai/ Bangkok/ Singapore
Transfer to the airport for a flight to Singapore via Bangkok. Upon arrival in Singapore, transfer to the Goodwood Park Hotel. A harbor cruise on the Imperial Cheng Ho is the evening's highlight, complete with a sumptuous dinner of local and international cuisines.
Day 10, Tuesday, Singapore
A busy day of sightseeing brings you to Singapore's bustling waterfront and the Shenton Way financial district. Catch a panoramic view of the city from atop Mt. Faber, and visit the botanic garden's orchid collection, and a batik factory. Lunch is at the legendary Raffles Hotel's, Tiffin Room for a taste of Anglo-India. Proceed to the ethnic enclaves of little India, Arab Street, and Chinatown, with a rickshaw ride back to the hotel. The ?¡ãNight Safari" offers a buffet dinner and a tour by tram through the habitats of more than 1,200 nocturnal animals from over 110 exotic species.
Day 11, Wednesday, Singapore
Breakfast at Yixing Xuang Teahouse, then head for the Jurong Bird Park for an entertaining bird show. The balance of the day is free for shopping, exploring the city on your own, or the optional Feng Shui tour. In the evening, enjoy an hour at the hotel spa.
Day 12, Thursday, Singapore/Bali
Fly to the delightful island paradise of Bali. Upon arrival in Denpasar, you are met and transferred to the Ritz Carlton Hotel on beautiful Jimbarou Bay.
Day 13, Friday, Bali
A morning excursion through the tropical countryside brings you to the artisan shops in the villages of Mas and Ubud and to a Balinese temple for a Barong dance drama. Lunch is at the Chedi Hotel, with the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a Balinese dinner at Angsa Putih Restaurant.
Day 14, Saturday, Bail
A full day tour explores the Balinese countryside, with stops at the village of Celuk to visit some of the local silversmiths; Goa Gajah, the ancient Hindu monastery at Bedulu; the terraced rice paddies of Sebatu and its Gunung Kawi Temple; and finally Kintamani for a panoramic view of the volcanic Mount Batur and Lake Batur. Enjoy an hour of relaxation at the hotel spa after dinner.
Day 15, Sunday, Bali
A day free for exploring the island on your own, or for relaxing beside the pool at the hotel.
Day 16, Monday, Bali/Hong Kong
In the morning, transfer to the airport for a flight to Hong Kong, where you are met and transferred to the Island Shangri-La Hotel. The balance of the day is at your disposal for exploring this friendly city, noted for its shopping.
Day 17, Tuesday, Hong Kong
Instead of breakfast, we start late and proceed to a dim sum brunch at Luk Yo Tea House, one of the best Cantonese restaurants in Hong Kong. An afternoon sightseeing tour brings you the highlights of this bustling city - the teeming Stanley Market, Aberdeen's floating restaurants and sampan dwellers, and a tram ride up Victoria Peak. Dinner is at the Peak Café Deco & Bar overlooking the lights of Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula and the "Fragrant Harbor."
Day 18, Wednesday, Hong Kong/Macau/Hong Kong
An early morning hydrofoil trip brings you to nearby Macau, the former Portuguese colony, where you visit the Old Fort, Penha Hill, Barrier Gate on the border with the People's Republic of China, the Bishop's home along the Praia Grande, the ruins of the historic Church of St. Paul, and Lou Lim Leoc Chinese Garden. Lunch is at Pousada De Sao Tiago. Return to Hong Kong by hydrofoil in the late afternoon.
Day 19, Thursday, Hong Kong
You have a full day at leisure for independent sightseeing or shopping. Or you may choose an optional tour to visit mainland China. This evening, visit Lei Yue Mun Fishing Village, and later enjoy a farewell seafood dinner.
Day 20, Friday, Hong Kong/USA
Board a Cathay Pacific Airways flight to the US and arrive home the same day. |
