Day 1, Monday, USA/Delhi
Depart via Lufthansa Airlines from the East Coast.

Day 2, Tuesday, Delhi
Arrive Delhi and transfer to Taj Palace Hotel.

Day 3, Wednesday, Delhi

Today tour the Old and New Delhi, visiting the War Memorial Arch (India Gate); Parliament House; Qutub Minar-built in the 12th-century; Humayun's Tomb; Red Fort, reputed to be one of the most magnificent palaces in the world; Jama Masjid, the second largest mosque in the world; Rajghat; and the old bazaar of Chandni Chowk. Board the legendary Palace on Wheels in time for dinner. Tonight the train begins its fascinating journey through the heart of Rajasthan.

Day 4, Thursday, Jaipur

Upon morning arrival in the Pink City of Jaipur, you are greeted by caparisoned elephants and strains of the Shehnai. Lunch at Rambagh Palace. Discover Hawa Mahal, Nahargani Fort, and Amber Fort - silent sentinels of a glorious era. The train departs late night for Jaisalmer.

Day 5, Friday, Jaisalmer

Arrive this morning at the 12th-century city of Jaisalmer, dominated by its sandstone fort of 93 bastions. Visit the exquisitely carved havelis and palaces with their latticed windows, balconies, cupolas and facades. Experience the famed camel safaris and desert camps, and dine under the stars as the rhythm of Rajashani music drifts into the night, when the train pulls out for Jodhpur.

Day 6, Saturday, Jodhpur

The Mehrangarh Fort is all-pervasive in the 15th-century city of Jodhpur. Visit this magnificent fort, which houses a world-class museum, and Jaswant Thada, a nearby royal cenotaph. Lunch at the Umaid Bhavan Palace, the royal residence.

Day 7, Sunday, Sawai Madhopur/ Chittorgarh (Palace On Wheels)
Enter the verdant Sawai Madhopur and the beautiful 10th-century fort of Ranthambhor, surrounded by the Ranthambhor National Park, a tiger reserve. In the afternoon, pass through the historic city of Chittorgarh.

Day 8, Monday, Udaipur

Arrive in Udaipur, the city of lakes, palaces, gardens, temples and forts. Lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel, the former summer residence of the princes of Mewar. Enjoy the tranquility of Lake Pichola. Visit the City Palace in all its ancient glory.

Day 9, Tuesday, Bharatpur/Agra
In the morning arrive at the Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur, home to over 300 species of birds. Proceed to Agra, site of the most beautiful monument - the Taj Mahal. Lunch at the Taj View Hotel, and then visit the monuments and tombs, all exquisite in architectural skill and beauty. Your train journey ends today and accommodations are at Taj View Hotel.

Day 10, Wednesday, Agra/ Khajuraho
Travel by air to Khajuraho, once the capital of a powerful dynasty of Hindu Kings called the Chandelas (959 A.D.). Upon arrival transfer to Chandela Hotel. Sightseeing includes the Western and Eastern Temples of the most vibrantly original works of Hindu architecture and sculpture.

Day 11, Thursday, Khajuraho/ Varanasi
Take a short flight to Varanasi, the oldest city of India on the bank of the Holy Ganges River. After checking in at the Taj Ganges Hotel, immediately start touring the many temples and bazaars of the city.

Day 12, Friday, Varanasi
Sunrise boat ride on the Ganges to view rituals along the ghats. After breakfast, a walking tour along the ghats from the Alamgir Mosque south to the Kedareshvara includes a roof-top view of the Vishvanath temple compound. Full-day sightseeing tour includes the buried Buddhist city of Sarnath, Dhamekh and Chaukhandi stupas, Ashoka Pillar, Deer Park, archeological museum and the Bodhi tree.

Day 13, Saturday, Varanasi/Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. In the evening enjoy a Sound and Light Show at the famous Red Fort in the old section of Delhi. Accommodations are at Taj Palace Hotel.

Day 14, Sunday, Delhi
Today is a full day at leisure to explore the city on your own.

Day 15, Monday, Delhi/USA
Depart via Lufthansa Airlines to return to the East Coast of the US.
