Tibet by Train Includes Sichuan Province, China

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1, Saturday - USA/Beijing
Depart the USA on your Cathay Pacific trans-Pacific flight to Beijing.

Day 2, Sunday - En Route
Cross the International Date Line.

Day 3, Monday - Beijing
Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel. (Prime Hotel)

Day 4, Tuesday - Beijing/Lhasa
Tonight, board a train to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, on the newly completed railway, the highest in the world. The scenic train goes westward across northern central China until Xining, the last city before entering mountainous Tibet. From here, enjoy magnificent snowcapped mountains, serene lakes, vast grasslands and Tibet nomads. The ride takes about 48 hours before arriving in Lhasa. The train has only 4 berth compartments with 2 beds down and 2 beds up in each. Passengers are randomly assigned to their berth on a first come, first served basis. Having your own compartment is not guaranteed, even if you wish to pay extra berth fare. (B)

Day 5, Wednesday - En Route
On board the train.

Day 6, Thursday - Lhasa
Tonight arrive in Lhasa and transfer to hotel. (Lhasa Hotel)
